Sheâs been sidelined with a knee injury since February, but Lindsey Vonn isnât content to ride the bench much longer.
And thankfully she wonât have to- the Olympic skier was just cleared for downhill training, and sheâll resume preparations for the Sochi Olympics this week.
Vonn will attend the first official training session at Lake Louise with the US Ski Team in order to determine if she can return to competition, though her torn knee ligaments may still need extra time to adjust.
US womenâs coach Alex Hoedlmoser told press, âShe's trying to come back as quick as possible, and it just happens to be that Lake Louise is on the (schedule) right now. It's a very good place for her to come back and try because she's very familiar with the course and had success here."
International Ski Federation race director Atle Skaardal added, "I hope she is in good shape. I hope she's fit. Because racing downhill is not something you do if you are not in too good shape."
