New York Film Critics Circle Announces Award Winners

Gearing up for another busy awards season, the New York Film Critics announced the 2013 winners of their Circle Awards on Tuesday (December 3).

The winners are voted in by members of New York's newspapers, magazines and online media outlets, and are thought to be Academy Award straw polls by some.

Among the notable's who received a nod were Jennifer Lawrence for her role in "American Hustle," Jared Leto for "Dallas Buyers Club" and Cate Blanchett for "Blue Jasmine."

Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine

Best Director: Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave

Best Screenplay: American Hustle

Best Supporting Actor: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club

Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle

Best Animated Film: The Wind Rises

Best Cinematographer: Bruno Delbonnel, Inside Llewyn Davis

Best First Film: Fruitvale Station
